How do I scan documents in the main office?

General Information

The printer/copier/scanners are located in the ME Main Office Mailroom (088-2181).
Both are the following make and model: HP PageWide Managed Color MFP E77650.

Access

If you are with the Department of Mechanical Engineering you should automatically have access to the printer. Simply slide your card through the scanner attached to the left hand side of the printer to log in. If it is the first time you are using the printer you may have to input your Directory ID and Password using the built-in pullout keyboard located beneath the screen.

The system will sign you out automatically within 30 seconds, but to be safe you may want to manually sign out by tapping Sign Out on the home screen.

Scan to Google Drive

Once you have swiped your card and signed in you should see the home screen. Tap the Scan button to access the scan features, and select Scan to Google Drive. Place the document you want scanned face up in the Auto Document Feeder (ADF) or face down on the glass plate. Scan the document(s) and they will automatically be added to your Google Drive. If you have never used this feature before please look in your email inbox for an authorization message. Use the link within to associate your account and give the service write access. This only needs to be done once.

This the the best option for file management, as scans go directly into your account and are searchable.

Scan to Email

Once you have swiped your card and signed in you should see the home screen. Tap the Scan button to access the scan features, and select Scan to Email. Place the document you want scanned face up in the Auto Document Feeder (ADF) or face down on the glass plate. Add recipients using the built-in pullout keyboard and send.

This is the best option if you wish to directly send others your scanned documents.
Files are sent unencrypted. Please do email scans containing sensitive data.

Scan to Box

Once you have swiped your card and signed in you should see the home screen. Tap the Scan button to access the scan features, and select Scan to Box. Place the document you want scanned face up in the Auto Document Feeder (ADF) or face down on the glass plate. Scan the document(s) and they will automatically be added to your Box account. If you have never used this feature before please look in your email inbox for an authorization message. Use the link within to associate your account and give the service write access. This only needs to be done once.

This is the best option for those who do not wish to use Google Drive.
